ACCULTURATION SERVICES

The SFLHCC provides acculturation services to those individuals and businesses that are new in the area and need orientation and information with regard to social services.

LUNCH/LEARN SERIES FOR BUSINESSESS

The SFLHCC puts together luncheons for the purpose of education and assisting its members with different topics that may be of interest to them. Financial Planning, Health & Wellness, Telecommunications and many other topics are addressed quarterly during a lunch/learn sponsored by a member company.


LOAN LINK PROGRAM

The program “Loan Link” has the objective of finding alternatives to providing financial assistance to both businesses and individuals. The process is simple and easy and within 48 hours those who contact our offices or fill out our referral form will be contacted by one of the chamber’s financial partners. Back to Top


EDUCATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

The SFLHCC through its foundation provides from 10-12 local students with an opportunity to enhance their education by participating in an essay contest. The winners of the contest are taken on an all-expense paid trip outside of Florida in a partnership with Southwest Airlines. Cingular is the new AT&T partners with the SFLHCC by providing the students with complimentary cellular phones and pre-paid minutes. Back to Top


SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM THROUGH THE SFLHCC FOUNDATION

The SFLHCC implemented a scholarship program soon after its foundation. It saw the need to provide opportunities to Hispanic students enrolled in the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism of Miami-Dade County Public Schools. In the last 13 years, 50 scholarships have been granted. The SFLHCC Foundation is a 501(c) (3) organization. Paid internships are also provided for students that qualify for the program. TOURIST DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL (TDC)

The SFLHCC receives hundreds of calls from tourists from the U.S. and abroad concerning hotel referrals, restaurants, local attractions, etc. Through the TDC, the chamber handles inquiries and puts together information to mail to tourists. Back to Top

ANNUAL TOY DRIVE FOR MIAMI RESCUE MISSION'S CENTER
FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN

The SFLHCC sponsors an annual toy drive during the Holiday season that benefits the MRM’s Center for Women and Children. What began years ago as a toy drive became a drive for everything imaginable. Trucks full of hygiene products, clothes and toys are delivered to the Center during the Holidays. Back to Top


REFERRALS

The South Florida Hispanic Chamber has a referral service to its members for attorneys, CPAs, banks, realtors, title, companies, etc. at no cost and with significant reduction in fees when done through the chamber. Back to Top


MAILINGS

Our members can use the mailing services of the South Florida Hispanic Chamber for a fee. It is an effective way of communicating information about your product or service and reach out to a different market. Labels can be purchased as well. Back to Top

PUBLICATIONS

The SFLHCC publishes an annual Business Guide and Membership Directory. This resource magazine has useful information. It lists addresses and telephone numbers of businesses in the area and includes a membership directory.

The SFLHCC publishes a quarterly newsletter “The Chambergram” with chamber news and updates. The SFLHCC’s Website is also an excellent tool to promote your business. With over 70,000 visits per month, our website provides valuable information for the members of the organization and to those new to the area. SBA/CHAMBER AGREEMENT

The SFLHCC and the Small Business Administration have a signed Memorandum of Understanding whereby both organizations work together to provide chamber members with technical assistance, workshops and procurement opportunities (federal and local) and seminars. This gives our members an opportunity to meet with representative’s form the public sector and obtain information on how to obtain a loan for a small business and how to do business with the government. The SFLHCC puts together annual workshops in order to provide the business community with an opportunity of meeting with representatives from the public sector and obtain information as to how to do business with government. Back to Top

INTERNATIONAL TRADE

The South Florida Hispanic Chamber has established an excellent relationship with several cities from foreign countries with the objective of promoting our businesses. The SFLHCC was the official Miami Beach host to the visit of the Honorable Mayor of Murcia, Spain and a delegation of 20 members from the Murcia Chamber of Commerce. A strong, solid relationship was also established between the SFLHCC and the Cartagena Chamber of Commerce when the President of the SFLHCC paid a formal visit to Cartagena. Recently, the President of Ecuador, the Honorable Lucio Gutierrez, visited Miami to meet with the members of the SFLHCC. A delegation from Miami is planning a trade mission to Ecuador for 2005. GOALS CONFERENCE

Every year the SFLHCC celebrates its annual goals conference where entrepreneurs spend half a day together brainstorming as to issues of relevance to the business community. Each participant brings a list of issues considered important to his specific area of business. Back to Top

TELEVISION SHOW


The SFLHCC has been the host of a series of television shows during the past 10 years aimed at providing the community with information concerning businesses, health issues for Hispanics, social services, housing, cultural events, etc. “Living in South Beach” soon became “Panorama” which is done in the Spanish language for the purpose of outreaching to those who need valuable information. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT/TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR BUSINESSES

The SFLHCC’s primary purpose is to identify business opportunities for Hispanic and non-Hispanic owned businesses and to help potential and existing entrepreneurs with all the necessary tools to be successful. The SFLHCC also works in conjunction with other with major corporations and governmental agencies seeking qualified Hispanic suppliers
