SOUTH FLORIDA HISPANIC CHAMBER TO CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Miami, FL - In celebration of Black History Month, the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will host a reception together with the Arts Business Council of Miami honoring three African-American community leaders of South Florida. Aletha Player, Area Manager of External Affairs for Florida Power and Light, Dr. Karl Wright, President of Florida Memorial University and Eric Knowles, Sr. Director of Community Relations and Governmental Affairs at Dolphin Stadium and Chairman of the Board of the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce will all be receiving the “Outstanding Leadership Award” presented by both organizations. According to chamber President, Liliam M. Lopez, “It’s important for us as Hispanics to honor our African-American friends who have contributed so much to this community. Hispanics and African Americans have always had cordial relationships and their cultures have many similarities. We are proud to celebrate Black History Month.”
The reception is set for Wednesday, February 27, 2008, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. and will be held at Palm Restaurant located at 4425 Ponce de Leon Blvd in Coral Gables. The reception is free for members of both the South Florida Hispanic Chamber and the Arts Business Council of Miami. Non-members have an entrance fee of $15.00 per person.
