Claudia Puig

Claudia Puig is a trailblazing figure in U.S. Hispanic media, renowned for her leadership and influence as one of the most powerful Latina Broadcast Executives in the industry. With over 25 years of experience, she has made an indelible impact on television, radio, and digital platforms. Most recently, Claudia served as President and General Manager of Univision’s Local Media in Miami, overseeing two television stations, four radio stations, and digital platforms. In this role, she was responsible for driving success across sales, content, finance, marketing, and community relations, ensuring that Univision remained a leader in ratings and revenues.

Claudia’s career began at Tichenor Media in 1997 as Senior Vice President/General Manager. Following the company’s merger with Univision in 2003, she rose to become East Coast Regional Manager, supervising operations, finances, sales, and programming for nine Univision radio stations in Miami, New York, and Puerto Rico. Her strategic vision transformed these stations into leaders in their respective markets. In 2014, she was appointed President and General Manager of all Univision platforms in South Florida, a position where she solidified Univision’s prominence in U.S. Hispanic media.

Before her tenure at Univision, Claudia held leadership roles at Spanish Broadcasting System, Heftel Broadcasting, and AT&T/BellSouth Yellow Pages, honing her expertise in sales, marketing, and business development. Her vast experience and commitment to excellence have earned her numerous accolades, including being named one of Fortune Magazine’s "50 Most Powerful Latinas" and being consistently recognized among the “50 Most Influential Women in Radio” by Radio Ink Magazine. She was also honored as General Manager of the Year by Broadcasting and Cable Magazine in 2020.

Beyond her professional achievements, Claudia is a dedicated advocate for education and community development. She served for 16 years on the Board of Trustees of Florida International University (FIU), her alma mater, including three years as Chairwoman, and currently serves on the FIU Foundation Board. Her civic leadership extends to serving as a Presidential appointee on the board of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Florida Association of Broadcasters, and numerous other organizations dedicated to health, education, and public service.

Claudia, alongside her husband Richard Amundsen, has built a loving family with three grown children and five grandchildren. Her legacy of leadership and her passion for empowering Hispanic communities continue to shape the media landscape and inspire future generations.
