Beyond October:
Staying Proactive About Breast Cancer Awareness

As we conclude Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFLHCC) encourages everyone to maintain the spirit of awareness and support throughout the year. Breast cancer touches so many lives, but together we can make a meaningful impact through education, early detection, and continued support.
Early screening is one of the best tools we have. Doctors recommend that women begin regular mammograms at age 40 or earlier if they have a family history of breast cancer.
Don’t wait for symptoms. Schedule your screening and remind your loved ones to do the same. If you’re uncertain about your risk factors or when to begin screenings, consult your healthcare provider. Knowledge, preparation, and regular checkups make all the difference. Support is also key on this journey. Whether it’s joining a local fundraising walk, sharing information, or simply being there for someone going through treatment, every gesture counts. SFLHCC is proud to stand with our members and their families, promoting education and offering resources throughout the year.
Let’s keep the momentum going beyond October. Prioritize your health, encourage others, and show support for those affected by breast cancer. Together, we’re a stronger, more informed, and compassionate community.

October 29, World Stroke Day: A Reminder for SFLHCC Members

Today is World Stroke Day, a crucial time to raise awareness about and prevent strokes. Stroke remains a leading cause of disability, and people with liver disease or cancer may face a higher risk due to related health issues.
What can SFLHCC members do?
Promote prevention: Encourage healthy lifestyles, blood pressure control, and avoidance of tobacco and excessive alcohol consumption.
Raise awareness: Teach patients and families to recognize stroke symptoms using the F.A.S.T. method (Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call 911).
Foster collaboration: Work together across specialties to manage stroke risk for those with liver and cancer conditions.
Together, let’s take action to protect our patients and communities from stroke.
