The South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce proudly announces an exciting milestone following a recent meeting in Washington, D.C. between President Liliam M. Lopez and Donald Cravins Jr.
During this visit, Donald, President & CEO of the National Minority Supplier Development Council and former U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for Minority Business Development officially accepted an invitation to join the Chamber’s Honorary Board of Directors.
This distinguished appointment reflects the Chamber’s continued commitment to elevating minority business leadership. Don’s extensive experience and national impact will bring valuable insight and strategic direction to the organization’s mission.
SFLHCC looks forward to working closely with him to further empower minority-owned businesses and drive meaningful economic growth across South Florida and beyond.

As Women’s History Month comes to a close, the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFLHCC) celebrates the remarkable achievements and leadership of women across our community. This month has been a time to highlight trailblazing women, share their inspiring stories, and recognize the ongoing contributions they make in every field, from business and education to arts and civic engagement.
From female entrepreneurs building successful businesses to young women breaking barriers through mentorship programs, these stories showcase the talent, resilience, and determination that continue to shape our communities. Women’s History Month serves as a reminder to honor their impact and continue creating opportunities for future generations to thrive.

Ultra-Fast, Reliable Internet from Xfinity Now Available in Miami-Dade’s Coastal Communities
More Than 3,700 Homes and Businesses Will Be Connected to America’s Smartest Converged WiFi Network for the First Time
Comcast is connecting more than 3,700 new homes and businesses in Miami-Dade County’s coastal communities to multi-gigabit, symmetrical Internet from America’s smartest and most reliable converged network. The network expansion projects span the City of Miami Beach, North Bay Village, and the towns of Bay Harbor Islands and Surfside. By expanding its next-generation fiber network, the investment will strengthen connectivity across some of Florida’s most dynamic and iconic neighborhoods and deliver residents access to the latest technology.
Residents can visit Xfinity.com/mytown and enter their addresses for additional details on construction timing and upcoming service availability. Construction is complete in Surfside, where more than 1,100 locations now have access to the fiber network. Construction is underway in Miami Beach’s La Gorce and Nautilus neighborhoods to connect more than 1,400 homes to the fiber network. Work also continues in Miami Beach’s Normandy Isles and the Venetian Islands, where more than 750 homes will have access by summer. In Bay Harbor Islands, Comcast is on track to offer Xfinity and Comcast Business services to more than 250 locations by summer.

Joey Cantens Named New FIU Men’s Basketball Head Coach
MIAMI – Bringing nearly two decades of collegiate and professional experience along with a proven pedigree as a championship-winning head coach, Miami native Joey Cantens has been named the 10th head coach in FIU men's basketball program history, Panthers' Director of Athletics Scott Carr announced on Friday.
Cantens, 39, has spent the past five seasons as the head coach of Daytona State College, leading the Falcons to an incredible 109-21 record (84%) over the last four years as part of a career head coaching mark of 120-40 (75%). In the past four seasons, he has captured four consecutive conference championships and won Conference Coach of the Year every season while averaging more than 93 points per game.
