From Miami to Capitol Hill

Advocating for South Florida’s Entrepreneurs

The South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFLHCC) recently took its energy and advocacy to Washington, D.C., for the Second Annual Fly-In, led by Board Member Daniel Espino and President Liliam M. Lopez. Their mission? To champion the needs and growth of small businesses, particularly through their support for the Small Business Payments Alliance (SBPA).

While in the nation’s capital, the SFLHCC delegation met with Senator Rick Scott. The conversation highlighted the critical role of small businesses in the future of our state, and the two shared a commitment to fostering innovation and opportunity for entrepreneurs in Florida.

Additionally, the team met with Congressman Byron Donalds, a current candidate for Governor of Florida. The meeting was an exciting opportunity to connect with a key policymaker and to share the chamber’s vision for economic prosperity and community empowerment.

Lily also had the opportunity to reconnect with the Capital One Team. Building these critical relationships and having meaningful discussions ensures that the voices of South Florida’s Hispanic business community are heard at the highest levels. Thank you to Scott Harriford from the Small Business Payment Alliance for organizing the trip.

SFLHCC President Liliam M. Lopez recently had the pleasure of attending the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce's Little Black Dress & Pearls event, a gathering dedicated to recognizing the achievements of women in business and leadership. Lily enjoyed connecting with inspiring leaders and community changemakers, including Dr. Malou C. Harrison, Executive Vice President and Provost of Miami-Dade College, MDCC President Gordon Eric Knowles, Aletha Player, and Woodie Lesesne.

SFLHCC is proud to be part of a community that uplifts and supports women in leadership, and we look forward to many more celebrations of success together.
